Knowledge Quest Quiz (Edition 1)

S Chand Publishing, a leading educational publisher in India, is proud to announce the launch of Knowledge Quest Quiz, an ultimate general knowledge national challenge. Combining online and offline rounds, this unique hybrid quiz competition aims to engage students across India and highlight S Chand Publishing's commitment to national development and transformative change in line with the NCF 2023 framework.

Eligibility and Format
The Knowledge Quest Quiz is open to students aged 10 to 14 years, equivalent to those in standards 6 to 8, from all schools across India. Teams will consist of two students from the same school, with no specific gender or class restrictions. Participation is free of charge for all schools.
Competition Structure

The competition will follow a three-tiered structure:

  • Zonal Preliminary Round (Online): The initial round will be conducted online, allowing students from all corners of India to participate.
  • Zonal Final (Online): On the same day as the Zonal Preliminary round, the top teams from each zone will compete in an online Zonal Final.
  • National Finale (Offline): The culmination of the competition will take place at a grand event in Delhi on 12th February 2024. The top teams from each zone will battle it out for the ultimate title of Knowledge Quest Quiz National champions.

Important Note: Participants for Round 1 will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. From each zone, first 65 schools will be eligible for participation.

Awards and Recognition
All participating students in the Zonal Final round will receive certificates of participation, while the winning teams at the National Finale will be awarded exciting prizes.
Engagement and Outreach
S Chand Publishing will leverage popular digital platforms to engage students, teachers, and parents throughout the competition. Additionally, traditional media channels will be utilised to promote the initiative and enhance its credibility.

S Chand Publishing invites all schools across India to participate in this exciting national challenge and showcase their students' general knowledge and competitive spirit. The Knowledge Quest Quiz promises an enriching and memorable experience for all participants.

Quiz Structure

Online (Platform - Zoom)

  • Involves 500+ schools from eight zones.
  • Only registered schools are eligible to partake in the Round 1 Quiz, which will be conducted in real-time on Zoom by our experienced Quizmasters.
  • The team will log in and enter participant details.
  • Each quiz slot is set at 30 minutes, comprising 20 questions.
  • The team will sit together in front of the same screen and switch on their camera.
  • The session will be video recorded and saved at the back end.

Important Note: Participants for Round 1 will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. From each zone, first 65 schools will be eligible for participation.

Online (Platform - Zoom)

  • On the same day as the Zonal Preliminary round, the most outstanding eight teams from each zone will qualify for the esteemed online Zonal Final.
  • It will be conducted live on Zoom (online) by Quizmasters.
  • The eight qualifying teams will log in from their respective location, device and Zoom, confirm participant details, and take the quiz.
  • Quiz time: 1 hour.
  • Similar to zone preliminary, each team will sit in front of the same screen and switch on their camera. The session will be video recorded and saved at the back end.

Grand Finale | On-Stage (Location - Delhi)

  • The top teams from each zone will battle it out for the ultimate title of Knowledge Quest Quiz National champions.
  • The grand finale will occur in New Delhi on February 12, 2024. It will be conducted live on stage by Quizmasters.
  • The top 3 teams will be distinguished as Winners, 1st Runners-Up, and 2nd Runners-Up.

  • Schools are required to register their teams for the quiz.
    ● Each team consists of only two members.
    ● Teams can comprise students from the same class or different classes within the school.
    ● The quiz is eligible for boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14.
    ● Schools and teams participating must be bonafide.
    ● Participants must have access to a computer or laptop for the quiz.
    ● Participants must keep their cameras on throughout the quiz.
    ● Internet connectivity is a must for attending the quiz.
    ● Zoom is mandatory to participate in the quiz.
    ● The quiz's initial two rounds (Zonal Preliminary and Zonal Final) will take place on Zoom within the respective schools. Each team will be allocated an empty classroom within the school for the quiz, along with a coordinator.

  • ● Registration for the quiz is easy and is only through schools.
    ● Schools will appoint a mentor who will be responsible for coordinating the quiz.
    ● The mentor will provide their contact details, including email and phone number.
    ● Once registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
    ● Schools will nominate participating team members

  • The Knowledge Quest Quiz is a 3-level competition:
    ● Zonal Preliminary: 500+ schools across India will participate in the preliminary Online Round (Platform – Zoom).
    ● Zonal Final: The top 8 teams from each zone will compete in the Second Online Round (Platform – Zoom).
    The best 1 team from each zone will advance to the National Finale.
    ● National Finale: A total of 8 teams from the Zonal Final will compete in the National Finale.

    Important Note: Participants for Round 1 will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. From each zone, first 65 schools will be eligible for participation.

  • ● Read widely on various topics.
    ● Focus on broad topics and deep dive into areas that seem more relevant to the quiz.
    ● Use Wikipedia to broaden your knowledge.
    ● Read newspapers daily to stay up-to-date on current affairs.
    ● Learn basic information such as the tallest, fastest, oldest, deepest, largest, and smallest of various things.
    ● Create flashcards to help you memorise information.

  • Quizzes are great for team building because:
    ● Team members must rely on each other's strengths.
    ● Team members learn to work together under pressure.
    ● Team members become more knowledgeable as a whole.

  • The team answers all questions as one. Since only one answer option can be provided, the team must discuss beforehand, against time pressure, and come up with one answers.

  • Round 1 and Round 2 will occur on the same day, with the winning team from Round 1 advancing to Round 2, which will also happen virtually on the same day. Rounds 1 and 2 dates are as follows based on their respective zones: North – 1: 22nd December 2023 | 9:00 AM

  • All schools that register before seats fill up can participate in Round 1.

    Important Note: Participants for Round 1 will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. From each zone, first 65 schools will be eligible for participation.

  • 1 and a half hours.

  • Yes.

  • During the Zoom quiz, participants will answer questions by typing them in the chat box and addressing their messages to the moderators (whose names will be announced during the quiz). Please avoid selecting "Everyone" when sending your answers. For Round 1, answers should be entered in the Zoom chat box and addressed exclusively to the moderators, not to everyone. Once all questions have been answered, round 1 will conclude.
    (Detailed housekeeping rules will be shared during the day of the quizzes.)

  • Questions will be asked from diverse themes: Nature, Language and Literature, Sports and Activities, Science and Technology, History, World, and India.

  • The results for Round 1 of the quiz will be announced by S Chand's team between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM on the day of the quiz after it has been completed. The winning teams will then progress to Round 2, which will commence at 2:00 PM on the same day.

  • Yes, participants of Round 2 will get the Certificate of Participation.

  • Once Round 2 of the quiz is over, within two weeks.

  • The grand finale will take place in New Delhi on 12th February 2024. (Venue details will be communicated to schools after Zonal Finals).

  • Yes, teams will be required to travel for the grand finale along with a coordinator from their school.
